  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Henry (Harry) Douglas Vincent Nicholls, a tailor’s cutter of Ashfield, Sydney, with his brother Ellis enrolled for the Army Medical Corps on 24 Aug. 1915. He enlisted in the A.I.F. aged 25 years, 13 Sept. 1915, embarked from Australia on HMT Gloucester Castle, 22 Dec. 1915 and worked in military hospitals in England and France. He returned to Australia as part of the nursing staff on hospital ship Beltana, 2 June 1919.

    Thomas Ellis Nicholls (Ellis), tailor’s cutter of Croydon, Sydney enlisted aged 22 years, 13 Sept. 1915, embarked from Australia on HMT Gloucester Castle, 22 Dec. 1915 and worked at the 1st Australian Dermatological Hospital at Bulford, England and in France with his brother Harry. He returned to Australia on H.T. Castalia, 13 April 1919
