Attributed to Richard Read junior and reproduced in 'Artists in early Australia and their portraits' / by Eve Buscombe. Sydney, Eureka Research, 1978

Artist could also possibly be a J. T. Read, of 16 Jamieson Street, who was listed in an 'Exhibition List of Artists in 1849' (mentioned in the Royal Australian Historical Society Journal of 1919, page 248)

Undated; the portrait shows the sitter as a young woman which suggests that it may have been done around 1830

Only part of the signature is now visible '[-]ad' as the lower right seems to have suffered some paint loss [August 1982]
