  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    John Burrows was born in 1829. He arrived in Australia on the ship ‘Blanche Moore’ from Liverpool in 1855. He obtained his first position as Flour Miller at the Deloraine Flour Mills in Tasmania. Later, Burrows joined the staff of Dalgety Abbotson? at Geelong in Victoria, and in 1860 entered into partnership with Richard Toulins. In 1866 he bought a flour mill in Victoria and later (1870) built the Hume Flour Mills in Dean Street, Albury. John Burrows died in October 1904.
