  • Scope and Content
    Most of the drawings are of views in the Sydney area. Many of the sketches show the influence of Conrad Martens and some of that of Charles Rodius.
    It is believed that these artists taught drawing to the Mitchell family.

    Two of the sketches are signed by Alicia Mitchell, one by Roderick Mitchell, and one by Emily Mitchell. Eleven are dated with the year, twenty three are titled.
    One of the sketches (f.58) is signed by Martens, and several others have titles written in a hand very like Martens.
