    Accompanied by a catalogue in 1 volume.

    The collection consists of 2000 images selected by ACP from the Tyrrell Collection of 8000 glass negatives, and includes views of Sydney and surrounding areas, images relating to primary industry and New South Wales country areas, Australian aborigines, transport, shipping, whaling, mining, the armed forces, notable events such as demonstrations and parades, and postcards. Also included are views of Queensland, Adelaide and locations in the Pacific area. The catalogue which accompanies the collection lists its contents and details the history of the Tyrrell Collection.

    Each volume includes a duplicate of the relevant contents listing from the catalogue. The Mitchell Library's copy of the collection is set no. 1 of 10 sets printed by Australian Consolidated Press.

    Most of the originals are inscribed with the studio name. Undated, dated 'mainly from 1880 to 1910' in the catalogue which accompanies the collection. The collection title is based on the title page of the catalogue accompanying the collection Most of the originals are inscribed with tiles and stock numbers, the catalogue includes an individual title for each photograph, taken either from original glass negatives, or from the bags in which they were housed. Each image is overprinted 'Reproduced from the original Tyrrell Collection glass plate. c ACP 1981'.
