    Caley was appointed by Sir Joseph Banks to collect plant specimens in N.S.W. He arrived in Sydney in 1800, became superintendent of the botanic gardens at Parramatta until 1808, and later returned to England. He was superintendent of the botanic gardens at St. Vincent in the West Indies, 1816-1822. This journal will be a valuable addition to the Library's existing holdings of Caley's journals, notebooks and letters.
