From 'Rare Set of 12 plates of Early Melbourne 1841 to 1845', by Henry Gilbert Jones, Melbourne : Fine Art Society, 1934. Introduction to the set of views states : 'These etchings were made entirely for his personal use, and as illustrated headings for his letter paper. They were never publically used and distributed as prints...and it is quite possible that some of the copperplates were never printed from before publication of this set.'
The plates (nos. 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9-12) correspond to nos 1-9 of the letterheads, and are from the original engravings (letterheads) above.
