This reader printer copy with revisions by Thomas A. Darrah in May 2008 is an attempt to transcribe the diary as intended.

"When Laube transcribed the diary he spelled out in full all abbrieviated or contracted words and also used modern spelling. He made a few mistakes in his transcription and left blanks where he could not read a word in the original manuscript. Because his typewriter probably lacked the sharp ess he used the aceptable ss where Leichhardt had written B.
In this copy of his transcription corrections have been made in red. These include restorig abbreviations and contractions, using B instead of ss, correcting mistakes and filling in blanks where possible. There is no guarantee that some errors have been missed"
