  • Scope and Content
    The building was designed by Greenway, and the foundation stone was laid by Miss Martha Marsden in 1817. In 1877 the Church Trustees sold the property, and after changing hands several times it came in to the possession of J. Y. Mills in 1880. A front porch and side wings were added, and than name changed to the Cedars.

    A photograph of a watercolour signed 'E Thomas' in the possession of Mrs P. Gibson which is possibly the original from which this copy was made is in the SPF/Parramatta - Residences - St John's Parsonage.

    Another watercolour entitled 'Second Parsonage, Parramatta', is described as Unsigned but probably by Edmund Thomas (no. 35 in New Zealand - High Commissioner - Cook and a hundred years after : catalogue of an exhibition, June 1956).
