The portrait is similar to the engraving in Beechey, F.W., 'Narrative of a voyage to the Pacific and Berring's Strait', London : Colburn & Bentley, 1831, but the image is not reversed. The drawing does not seem to have been copied from the engraving as it shows a stronger face with a more aquiline nose and thinner mouth than the engraving. Possibly the drawing is the original of the engraving.
