  • Date note

Most letters show only the day and month of writing and it is difficult to date them precisely but they probably cover the period ca. 1948-1954. The few dated letters were written during 1952-1953. There are some indicators in the subject matter, with mention of the death of the King, the Coronation and concern about the Korean War. Rose mentions her memoirs (which were serialised in the Bulletin in 1953). The letters were written either from Springwood, or occasionally from `The Flat' in Sydney. Prior to 1956 according to printed sources, Rose, by then crippled with arthritis, went to live with Jane and Bruce Glad and their family to Hunters Hill.
