“This is one of only two 1864 commissions. Charles Kean, the Irish actor-manager, was the son of the celebrated tragedian, Edmund Kean. He embarked on a tour of New South Wales and Victoria in late 1863 with his wife, Ellen and a touring company. They arrived in Sydney for their last engagements in May 1864. Tivoli was the property of William Dumaresq at Rose Bay. Today the site is occupied by Kambala Church of England School for Girls”.
