  • Collection history
“The collection when it came consisted of 3 ½ tons weight of negatives. Remainder of Water Board photos were transferred to the Water Board. The remainder of railway photos to the N.S.W. Railway Institute. Of the rest, good negatives or similar views to those kept by Mitchell Library, were handed over to the Commonwealth National Library. The remainder of the collection, that is further duplicates, spoilt negatives and views and portraits of no interest to Mitchell Library were destroyed. [Of the sizes] the smaller ones appear on the whole to be of an earlier date than the others, mainly between 1916 and 1921”. Reference: SLNSW Picture Card Catalogue.
