  • Scope and Content
    Sixty-six of the reproductions and photographs have engravers’ and photographers’ names printed at lower left or right. The four original photographic prints on pp. 40, 69, and 70, are possibly by Piguenit.

    Twenty of the reproductions and clippings are dated.

    Two hundred and nine of the reproductions and clippings are titled. A number of items refer to Tasmania and Australia, and some to England. Clippings on pp. 79 and 133 refer to Piguenit, as well as several other cuttings.

    Piguenits’ exploration through Tasmania is referred to on pp. 106-107. Several reproductions of photographs, by Australian photographers F.E. Pousty, T.R.G. Williams, F. Williamson, and R. Wilkinson.

    The scrapbook can be examined in conjunction with Piguenits’ diary at MLMSS 2896. The diary has an account of trips from Hobart Town to Port Davey (14 February to 9 March 1871), from Hobart Town to Lake St Clair (8 February to 10 March, 1873) and from Hobart Town to New South Wales (13 September to 13 October, 1875), including notes concerning sketches, photographs and landscape scenery.
