  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

Clive Robertson, broadcaster, photographer, writer, sound-recorder and classical music-lover, found his career in the late 1960's working in television before joining the Australian Broadcasting Commission, (the ABC or "Aunty").
He had not enjoyed school. On leaving he worked on the land, for his father (a lawyer), disassembling motors, as a PMG linesman and then he joined the media in the year talkback radio started, 1967.
He appeared on various transmitters in the southwest of Western Australia, ventured into television in the late sixties (he was the first person to appear in colour in 1969), and then, in 1972, he joined the ABC. He was transferred to Canberra and then returned to Sydney, where he compered the 2BL breakfast show, read radio and television news and enjoyed stints at 2DAY-FM in their first year of operation. He worked for Rupert Murdoch as one of the more successful Beauty and the Beast comperes.
He returned to commercial television in 1984, compering 11am for Channel Seven, then Newsworld, and then he took over the late news on Channel Nine. He wrote many of the news introductions for this program. He has also interviewed many people.
He returned to commercial radio in 1992, presenting the drive program on 2GB, then, after some encouragement, the breakfast slot.
He joined 2SM, and left in 2001. He then took on the very difficult Radio National breakfast program as a Summer replacement in 2001, and then enjoyed three years with ABC Classic FM presenting Breakfast until the end of 2004.
Robertson was working on a revision of his book War and no peace, in 2007. -- Biography from Wall Media (website)
