Previously titled "Fisherman's hut at Parsley Bay" based on inscription on reverse. The location is now thought to be the western shore of Vaucluse Bay. The drawing is titled in pencil on the reverse of the mount by a Library officer "[Fisherman's hut at Parsley Bay]" with an inscription: "Miss M. J. was told when collecting this picture that it was at Parsley Bay but cannot trace any reference to this hut in books and articles about the district. Miss Hill presented another view of this in 1948 and said it was at Vaucluse". This other view, ML 480, is from a more easterly viewpoint and is dated 1880. See also: Sydney Harbour: Seldom Scene exhibition guide, 2007
The hut in this view is also depicted in an albumen photo ca.1884-89 titled "Gilbey's hut, Vaucluse near Parsley Bay" (Location: SPF/746). "Gilbey" or "Gilbie" was Theophilus Gilberthorpe, a fisherman and servant of the Wentworth family. For further notes about Gilberthorpe, see SPF/746.
