Titled in pencil on reverse, with 'Halsted' once in ink and once in pencil on reverse
Undated; dated from notes at PXn 553
A view showing part of this headland at SPF/616 is labelled in pencil 'Old Bay Ferry, Balmain' and gives names 'Hunt' and 'E.W. Caven (?)' [ie. Cameron] above the houses. Notes re names are filed at PXn 103.

Notes by K.H. Perdriau dated 1978 are filed at PXn 553 identifying houses and other features in the picture. The view is from 14 Datchett St Balmain East, looking westwards toward the other side of the same headland. The three houses in the middle distance are identified from left to right as Henry Perdriau Snr., "Bleak House" (later "Claremont"), Grafton St (built by Samuel Crook c.1855); Hon. Edward Hunt MLC, "Hampton Villa", Grafton/Ewenton St (later occupied by Sir Henry Parkes; still standing, 1976); and E.W.Cameron: "Ewenton" (built early 1850s, with "florid wing of three stories" added c.1870; derelict but still standing, 1976). The bay in the right foreground is referred to as "the Little Bay", with Johnstons Bay and Glebe Island in the left background joined by the first Glebe Island Bridge.

Further information is at PXn 553.
