    Eusebius of Caesarea, also known as Eusebius Pamphili, was a Greek theologian whose major works include a life of Constantine, and Historia Ecclesiastica which he wrote about 323-343 A.D. Rufinus of Aquileia, also known as Rufinus Tyrannius, was an Italian theologian who translated into Latin many of the works of the Greek Christian writers.
  • Scope and Content
    A manuscript copy of Rufinus' translation of Eusebius, made in Germany in the 15th century. The text is written by two scribes, one of whom wrote on the last page: 'Egbertus noet alias Traiecti scripsit hunc librum manu sinistra'. The capital letters are alternately red and blue, with mauve penwork decoration. There are eleven illuminated initials. The watermark of a hat is from the period 1464-1476. A pencil inscription on the inside front cover reads: 'This translation by Rufinus was printed at Rome A.D. 1474, but with omissions and interpolations'.
