  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Wilfred Alexander Inman was born in Chester, England. He married Mary Inman nee Martin (1866-1956) daughter of Lady Isabella Martin and Sir James Martin, Premier and Chief Justice of New South Wales. Inman founded a school for boys in 1897 at `Erowal', Bellevue Hill, Sydney which then moved to `Carrara', Rose Bay in 1899 and finally Tudor House, Moss Vale where he remained in charge until retirement in 1906

    A. Correspondence, 1917-1959, concerning the Martin and Inman families. Correspondents include Lucy Inman, Harold Inman, Gertrude (Binnie) Inman, Mary Inman and Wilfred Inman.
    B. Miscellaneous, include newsclippings, handwritten and typed notes concerning the Inman and Martin families. Also includes Certificate of Discharge from the Australian Imperial Expeditionary Force for Wilfred Inman; Certificate from Buckingham Palace awarded to Charles Anthony James Inman; Postcard with inscription from Nellie Melba
    C. Photographs, include (2) Tudor House (Moss Vale), (1) church unidentified, 1 male portrait unidentified, (1) male identified with inscription `With best luck to dear Willie 20th March 1889', (1) female unidentified.
