  This book of hours is a standard product of a late fifteenth century French regional atelier, and may have been executed as a stock in trade product for a female customer. The first decorated page has a seventeenth century inscription of the names 'Loyse de Lange' and 'de Vilars'.
• Scope and Content
  Text: Latin, with calendar in French. Includes calendar; gospel sequences; prayers; Hours of the Virgin; Hours of the Cross; Hours of the Holy Ghost; penitential psalms; litany; Vigils of the Dead; Obsecro te; O intemerata.
  Decoration: Includes numerous initials, panel borders and fourteen large miniatures. The subjects of the miniatures are: St John on Patmos: gospel sequences; Annunciation: matins for Hours of the Virgin; Visitation: lauds; Nativity: prime; Annunciation to the shepherds: tierce; Adoration of the Maji: sext; Presentation: none; Flight into Egypt: vespers; Coronation of the Virgin: compline; Crucifixion: Hours of the Cross; Pentecost: Hours of the Holy Ghost; David and Goliath: penitential psalms; Job on a dunghill: Vigils of the Dead; Pieta: Obsecro te.
