Robert Pitt (1734-1787) was born at Sturminster Newton, Dorset, England. He married Mary Matcham at Child Okeford, Sturminster, Dorset on 27 Dec 1770. She was born 6 June 1755 in Belchalwell, and in 1801, she emigrated to Australia as a free woman aboard the Canada with her 4 daughters and one son. This trip was organised by her cousin George Matcham who was married to a sister of Lord Nelson. Mary died in NSW in 1815.
