John Oxley was Surveyor-General of New South Wales, 1812-1828. He was appointed by Governor Lachlan Macquarie in 1817 to lead an expedition to trace the course of the Lachlan River and investigate the western interior of the colony. - Scope and ContentThe journal entries describe John Oxley's exploration of Moreton Bay written between 10-29 Sept. 1824. Entries for 10-29 Sept. 1824 are written at front of book on pages 1-77; entries for 7-9 Oct. 1824 are written on inverted pages 78-97.
