Cavanagh Bros was a family run business based in Rozelle which operated between 1902 and 1959 manufacturing school and church furniture.

Charles Cavanagh, 1849-1934, son of Edward and Lucinda, with his wife Catherine, had children Philip, Edward, Lucy, Marie, Charles, Joseph, Maria (Sister Charles), Kathleen (Sister Mary Irene), John, Anna, and Vincent. Edward or "Canegrass", was known to have been a speaker in the Domain on religious matters. Miss Anna Clare Cecilia Cavanagh, 1903-2005, donor of this collection, lived in the family home "Marika" at Hunters Hill.
