The collection consists mostly of May Gibbs' original sketches for her children's books. Also included are sketches for proposed publications, studies made while at art school in London, and portraits and photographs of her family and friends. Among the latter group are self portraits, portraits of her husband, James Ossoli Kelly, her parents Mr and Mrs H.W. Gibbs, and her friend Rene Sullivan.
