August F. Chevreux, stonemason, was born in France ca 1828 and arrived in Sydney ca 1877. He died in 1906. - Scope and Content1881, ca 1900; Chevreux's notebook containing sketches and notes in French and English on costs of materials and labour. The sketches consist of designs for gravestones. Loosely inserted are some pressed leaves and an illustrated prospectus of about 1900 from Thomas Andrews and Sons of Newtown and Rookwood, Monumental Masons & Designers.
1986-2004; Related material including research notes & correspondence; and a copy of Descent, June 2004 containing an article by Lionel Gilbert titled 'A Stonemason without a Memorial'. - Language
