    Dorothy Jenner is best known as the radio personality and journalist 'Andrea'. Born in Narrabri in 1891, she spent ten years in Hollywood from 1915 to 1925 before returning to Australia to become a roving correspondent with the Sydney 'Sun' newspaper. During World War II she spent four years as a prisoner of the Japanese. After the war she built up a national following on radio. She died in 1985.

  • General note

    An earlier accession of Dorothy Gordon Jenner's papers, 1921, 1938-1947, is located at MLMSS 5184. A preservation microfilm copy (made Apr. 1991) is at CY 2690, frames 1-377. The collection includes correspondence and a prisoner-of-war camp diary. Dorothy Jenner was a civilian prisoner of the Japanese during World War II, and she kept a diary, 8 Dec. 1941 - 19 Jan. 1942, written on toilet paper (MLMSS 5184, Item 2: CY 2690, frames 70-111).
