Winifred Jessie Ellis, 1901-1987, daughter of Julius Nelson Ellis and Ada May S., and granddaughter of Marie Ellis (nee Kramer), a soprano singer who migrated to Australia in the mid 19th century with the Haimberger family who performed under the name of The Tyrolean Minstrels. Marie Kramer married James Cole Ellis and settled in Newcastle where she was prominent in arts and humanitarian circles. The book 'Belated Applause' by Jessie Ellis with Joan Clarke, privately published in 1986 by W.J. Ellis, documents her life story.
