She was taken aback by a sudden squall off the point, her bowsprit carried away her crew became confused she got stern way and tailed upon the rocks where she soon filled. Several lives were lost and the boats of an American Frigate sent to her assistance hauled her off into deep water where she went down before they could save any thing out of her.
