• ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY
  
  Henry Scott, son of Walter the fifth Duke of Buccleuch, was a watercolourist and politician. In 1853 Scott travelled to Australia and the South Pacific with his tutor, Reverend Henry Stobart, and sketch the landscaped visited. -- Reference: Dictionary of Australian Artists / by Joan Kerr.   The work is believed to be by Henry Scott although it could be that of his tutor, the Reverend Henry Stobart. For further information, see "Itinerary of the Voyage of Henry Stobard compiled in the Mitchell Library from newspaper cuttings and from Letters by Henry Stobart to his mother (ML MSS 868) at PXn 3.
  The work is mounted on an page numbered "11" in pencil at upper right. The page was removed from an album at an unknown date.
  The title and date is repeated in pencil on the reverse in an unknown hand.
