• Attributions / conjectures
  
  This painting is discussed in a book by Dunlop's great nephew, John Service, "Thir Notandums", 1890, (Mitchell Library call no. B 434, p.211). Service describes it as "An oil painting by Dr Felton of Parramatta, now in the possession of Mrs Kay of Castlereagh St., Sydney, probable date 1826". Felton did not arrive in Australia until 1838. It is possible that this work is by Augustus Earle, who was in Sydney at that time, and with whose work this portrait bears stylistic similarities.
