  • Scope and Content
    1888; "With Greetings and Good Wishes for the Year, 1888" a folded card with two photographs showing the Queen's Statue (Victoria 1887), Main entrance, General Post Office, Sydney, New South Wales and Circular Quay (Sydney Cove), 1887. Also includes an illustration of Sydney Cove, 1803. On the reverse, printed details of postal revenue and letters posted etc. in 1886, from the Postmaster-General, The Hon. Charles J. Roberts.   • General note

    John Mildred Creed was chairman of the Parliamentary Select Committee enquiring into the Costa Rica Packet case. There are papers relating to the case in MLMSS 296 and also in John Mildred Creed - papers, 1882-1911 located at: A 680 - A 696, Vol. A 685. The National Library of Australia also hold photographs of the Costa Rica Packet whaling ship in the Carpenter collection, 1853-1890s.
