  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Francis Nicholas Rossi was born in Corsica in 1776. He joined the British Army in 1795 and served in Holland, Gibraltar, Ceylon and Mauritius. In 1825 he took up the position of Superintendant of Police in New South Wales. In 1834 he retired to his property, Rossiville, in the Goulburn district. He died in 1851.

    Material relating to Francis Nicholas Rossi including autobiographical and biographical notes; his military commission (1799); survey of the new town of Goulburn by Robert Hoddle (1833); survey of 820 acres of land applied for by Rossi near Goulburn (1835).
    Material relating to Francis Robert Louis Rossi including legal documents concerning land near Goulburn (1863-1903); his certificate of marriage (1894); documents regarding a claim to land near Goulburn by his widow (1903).
