Textual Records - (manuscript) - Scope and ContentMay 1864 - Nov. 1865 ; At the front of the volume is a list of names including D.S. Mitchell. The diary commences at 20th May however, the entries are not chronological but are scattered throughout. Daily activities such as letter writting, receiving and visiting friends and relatives (including David Scott Mitchell, 'Hattie' i.e. Harriet Scott and 'Uncle Walker') attendance at church, meals, and birthday celebrations are documented.

The diary is predominantly written in pencil with some notes in black ink.
Some pages have been torn from volume.
