"This study was carried out in 2000 and records the present condition of the decoratively carved swags of each pier which depict Australian native and exotic species of flowers, foliage, fruit, nuts and seeds. The documents were commissioned by the NSW Department of Public Works and Services Minister's Stone Program. They were prepared by a multi-disciplinary team consisting of drawings by Vivian Sioutas, Architect DPWS, section drawings by Michael Murray Landers, Stonemason and photography by Jaime Plaza, Royal Botanic Gardens." -- [p.1]
  • General note

New South Wales. Dept. of Public Works and Services. Minister's Stone Program
The Palace Garden Gates, erected as part of the 1888 Colonial Centenary celebrations, were designed by the Colonial Architect James Barnet. The significance of the gates, a major entrance of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Macquarie Street, lies in the quality of the carvings, and their association with the former Garden Palace building.
