    For a short period before he achieved fame as a war cinematographer, Damien Parer worked at Max Dupain's studio. Marie Cotter worked at David Jones beauty salon and had her portrait taken by `Max Dupain's new assistant'. They married in 1944, but he was killed six months later filming the American assault on Peleliu Island. -- Curator of Photographs, Mitchell Library, 2004
