The Caroline, under the command of Captain Alexander McDonald, left Cork on 15 April 1833 and arrived in Sydney on 6 August 1833. HMS Buffalo, commanded by Commander F.W.N. Sadler, sailed from Portsmouth on 12 May 1833 and arrived in Sydney on 5 October 1833. - Scope and ContentFragment of the printed convict indents (or lists) for the Caroline and HMS Buffalo. They include standing and indent numbers, name, age, education, religion, marital status, children, native place, trade, offence, when and where tried, sentence, former convictions, detailed physical description. Space is left for recording later events in the convicts' lives such as colonial sentences, tickets of leave, pardons, certificates of freedom etc. Indents such as these were printed between 1830 and 1842 for limited distribution to magistrates and officials to enable them to identify individual convicts, and to provide relevant facts of their history.
