  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Marie Olive Armstrong (nee Stonehouse) was born in Sydney in 1928. At the age of 19 she joined the New Theatre in Newtown. For over 60 years she worked there as an actor, director, stage manager, choreographer and drama and dance tutor. She married actor John Victor Armstrong in 1951. For many years she was a member of the Communist party until her resignation in 1985. She was awarded the Queens Jubilee Medal and Order of Australia for her voluntary work at the New Theatre.
