First established Australia Day 1972 on the lawns of old Parliament House, in response to the government's rejection of Aboriginal land rights, the Aboriginal Tent Embassy existed intermittently until Australia Day 1992, when it became permanent. Fire destroyed the main office of the Embassy in August 2002, including all records. The photographer has captured images before and after the fire
