  George Whittington held several posts at Port Arthur. In 1855 he was appointed Constable and Assistant Overseer, Port Arthur, with a promotion the following year to the position of Overseer. He also worked as Keeper of Seperate Prison and Station Officer. -- Reference: Tas. • Scope and Content
  The entries document George Whittington's inspection of the various properties under his care including the Lunatic Branch, water clock, grounds of Government Cottage and Church, prisoner's chains, and the weight and quality of tobacco. Whittington also records when divine services were held and the 'mustering' of prisoners.
