  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Thomas Jones (1832-1874), was the youngest son of the Sydney merchant and pastoralist Richard Jones (1786-1852). At the age of nineteen, when his father died, he became joint owner of the "Barambah" runs in Queensland, with his uncle J.S. Ferriter.

    On 22 October 1859, at Holy Trinity Church, Millers Point, Sydney, Thomas married Frances (Fanny) Moore (1838-1903), daughter of Captain Joseph Moore and Ann (nee Bailey). Thomas and Frances had five children, Cyril Farre Moreton (1865-1869), Llewellyn Ralph Moreton (1867-1904), Richard Moreton (1868-1869), Mary Elizabeth (1871-1939) and Wilfred Moreton (b. 1873).
