    On the reverse of the frame is a handwritten non-contemporaneous label that provides geographical context and biographical information on Brierly, ""Taken from the east side of the Cove near Bennelong Point giving a view of eastern side from Macquarie / to Dawes Point. Original watercolour by Sir O.W. Brierly, the distinguished marine artist, who came to Australia / with Benjamin Boyd on the latter's yacht The Wanderer. He was for a time Police Magistrate at Twofold Bay / After his return to England he was appointed artist to Prince Alfred on the occasion of the latter's first visit to ...""
