  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Sophia Rebecca Lawson was the daughter of Caroline (nee Icely) and William Lawson and the grand-daughter of Lieut. William Lawson, pastoralist and Blue Mountains explorer. In 1884 she married Edward Richard Deas-Thomson.

    The female in this portrait wears a taffeta dress that buttons down the front and features horizontal tucks across the bodice, and engageant sleeves with with fringing.

    Photographer identified as Edwin Dalton because of the studio furniture he used in his Royal Photographic Establishment, Sydney -- Curator of Photographs, State Library of NSW, 2004.
