    The collection includes botanical drawings by members of the Scott family, a sketchbook of sentimental scenes typical of the nineteenth century drawn by Mary Ann Scott, and miscellaneous works by a number of different hands.

  • General note

    These items were formerly part of a larger collection of Scott family material offered by Christies, South Kensington, 28 May 1987, Lot 176. Deutschers Fine Art, Melbourne, purchased some of this collection, whilst some were sold to private collectors. Subsequently, Deutschers Fine Art presented the Mitchell Library with the following pictorial and manuscript material:

    [Rose Scott - portrait photograph, ca. 1864] / Croft Brothers (PXA 543 f.2);
    Scott family - papers, being material belonging to Mary Anne Scott, 1880-1893 (MLMSS 5076).
    The material in this collection record was purchased from Deutshers Fine Art, Melbourne in February-March 1988.
