The Most Rev. Sir Marcus Loane (1911-2009) was Archbishop of Sydney from 1966 to 1982 and Primate of Australia from 1977 to 1982.

John Robert Reid (1928-2016) was an assistant bishop in the Anglican Diocese of Sydney. From 1972 to 1993, he was the Bishop of South Sydney. His biography of Marcus Loane was published in 2004 by Acorn Press, Victoria.

Papers and photographs accumulated by John Reid while writing the biography of Marcus Loane.

Folders 1-3: Correspondence of Marcus Loane, 1967-1990, mainly arising from his role as Archbishop of Sydney.

Folder 4: Sermons, speeches, eulogies and writings of Marcus Loane, 1980-1985 and undated. Writings include autobiographical notes and part of the manuscript of 'Mark these men' (1985).

Folder 5: Papers about Marcus Loane collected by John Reid, 1934-1992, including correspondence, submissions for the biography, newscuttings, a family tree and donated letters written by Marcus Loane to various correspondents.
