  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Eliza Morisset (nee Lawson) was the eldest daughter of William and Caroline Lawson and grand-daughter of Lieut. William Lawson, pastoralist and Blue Mountains explorer. In 1860 she married Kelso magistrate Edric Morisset. Soon after, she had her portrait taken by society photographer Edwin Dalton, of the Royal Photographic Establishment, Sydney.

  • General note

    The ambrotype, being the original camera negative, is laterally inverted (or back-to-front), so that Eliza's wedding ring appears on her right hand -- Curator of Photographs, State Library of NSW, 2004.
