Established as the Sydney Foundling Hospital in 1874, the name was changed to the Infants' Home in 1877. It became responsible for the care of infants of unmarried mothers and of destitute parents, as well as providing a temporary home for the mothers. Today it is no longer a residential provider but provides a range of educational and early intervention programs for young children and families in need.
