  • General note

As George Boyle White died in 1876, he cannot be the author of fieldbooks B 640 to B 649, which fall after this date. These volumes are written in an unknown hand.
Some fieldbooks are written in "Henry Penny's Metallic Memorandum Books".
"G.B. White" signature appears on reverse of front cover or front endpapers of B 634.
    B 630, B 631, B 633-2, B 635, B 638, B 639 are reversible as they have been used from front to back.
    Initials "G.B.W." appears inside front cover of B 631 and B 638.
    B 631 has watermark, "Gilling / & / Allford / 1823"
B 632 and B 637 are not in hardback format.
B 633-1 was rebound in Sept. 1936 and comprises notes on blue and off-white paper. A "Mitchell Library" bookplate has been placed inside the front cover.
    B 634 is numbered "No.18".
"Fieldbook G.B. White 1866" on front endpaper of B 639.
    B 639 bears and inscription in a different hand, "Maitland / Dec 1B [?] 90 / N.S.W. / December / 12/12/90 / West Maitland / N.S.W."
On the front cover of B 645 in ink is "1853". This volume contains entries of a wide date range (1853-1882) in both pencil and ink. It appears to have been originally used by G.B. White, consistent with the year markings that appear on G.B. White's diaries, but re-used by an unknown person at a later date.

This collection was listed as part of the Sesquicentenary of Responsible Government in NSW 1856-2006 Project.
