    Sir Phipps Hornby was Rear Admiral and Commander of Pacific Squadron in 1847-50. His son, Sir Geoffrey Phipps Hornby was Commander in Chief, Mediterranean Station (1877-80). Robert S. Phipps Hornby was Commander in Chief, North America and West Indies Station (1914-15). Windham M. Phipps Hornby, son of Robert, entered the Royal Navy in 1909

Phipps Hornby relating to service of HMS Pylades on the Australian Station. 4. Papers 1900-1 of Windham M. Phipps Hornby comprising journal kept by Corbet A.F.
