The Commonwealth and Dominion Line was registered in 1914, being an amalgamation of four shipping companies: Tyser & Co., part of the Star Line, the Indra Line and the Anglo-Australasian Steam Navigation Co. In 1916 the company was taken by the Cunard Steam Ship Co. and in 1936 the name was changed to the Port Line

Contains agenda books, minutes of boards of directors, registers of seals, agreement books, transfers, correspondence, statistical material and other records conveying all aspects of the company's administration, especially negotiations with governments and other shipping companies in connection with Anglo-Australian trade via America. Also includes files regarding losses of ships during and after World War II
