    Sir William Francis Drummond Jervois was Governor of the Straits Settlement 1875-77, carried out a survey of the defences of New South Wales in 1877, was Governor of South Australia 1877-82, and Governor of New Zealand 1883-89
  • Scope and Content
    When Sir William took up his appointment as Governor of South Australia in 1877 he was immediately faced with a political crisis relating to the respective powers of the Legislative Council and the Legislative Assembly. The small group of papers filmed include a minute of Cabinet and Jervois' reply, notes on the dissolution of Parliament and notes by J.P. Boucaut on the formation of a new Ministry
